Nice despite the bad weather

04/2016 In the Tablelands we stayed overnight in Malanda. On the way to Cairns we drove past the Curtain Fig Tree. The tree is called that because the long aerial roots hang down to the ground like a curtain. In Cairns we stayed at the Novotel, in front of whose door the bats were cavorting in the trees. The next day we went by ship from Cairns to Green Island, a tourist island on the Great Barrier Reef. My snorkeling trip to the reef was literally canceled due to bad weather. The trip with the semi-submarine on the reef and the time on the beach was still nice.
