Spacious room with a view

12/2015 Our room is on the third floor of the hotel building. You can access the elevator on the first floor via the parking deck and then go directly to the appropriate floor to your room. The room is large and bright. There is a small kitchenette directly in the entrance area. In addition to a refrigerator, a sink and a stove, there is also a microwave. In the wardrobe there is a large safe and an ironing board with irons. There is also a large balcony with a view of the pool and the marina behind it. The free, stable and fast WiFi in the room is very commendable.

Restaurant without flair

The hotel has its own restaurant. We didn't eat there. The restaurant was too sterile and empty for us in the evening. However, a great buffet had been set up for breakfast. The food and drink selection looked pretty good. From the hotel towards the lighthouse there are a number of different restaurants where you can eat well and for a bit cheaper.

Harborside location on the outskirts of Mackay

The hotel is located directly on Mackay Marina. The harbor itself is a little outside the city. It takes about 10 minutes to get to the city center by car. There are several apartment complexes and hotels at the harbor. There are a number of restaurants next to it in the direction of the lighthouse. If you don't want to eat in the hotel, you can choose something there. Otherwise there is absolutely nothing going on here at Mackay Harbor.

The Clarion Mackay Marina Hotel has a beautiful pool in the garden. Here you can relax in the shade of large palm trees on lovely loungers or swim a few lengths. There is also a pool bar. From the pool you can get directly to the harbor promenade. Here you can walk along a very nicely laid out path between the hotels and the harbor and enjoy the evening sun. The beach is only about 200 meters away and is quite large and deserted.

Conclusion

The Clarion in Mackay is located on the marina. The marina is about 10 minutes by car outside the city. There's not much going on here. If you're just looking for a quiet place to spend the night, this is the right place for you.
