Mighty fortress at the harbor basin
12/2023 The Arad Fort is an ancient 15th century fortress in Manama, the capital of Bahrain. The fort can be visited for BHD 1 per person. There is a toilet at the ticket counter.
Beautiful old gate in the fortress
We were there in the late afternoon at around 3:00 p.m. The sun was perfect for taking a nice photo at the gate of the fortress. The warm afternoon sun shone through the opening in the wall of Arad Fort and cast beautiful shadows.
View from the fortress wall
A few steps take you to the top of the fortress wall and the two watchtowers towards the harbor. The view of the harbor and the skyline of Manama is beautiful. If you don't have a head for heights, you can walk from one tower to the other on the wall above the entrance gate to the fortress.
Replica of an old market street
When we were there, the recreated old market street was empty and none of the shops were open. There may be events when the old shops or workshops are open. But the historic-looking settlement is ideal for a few nice photos.
Old boats
In the square in front of the Arad Fort there are replicas of an old market street as well as some historic boats. In the evening sun, these also offer a nice photo opportunity.
