06/2023 Leuven's City Hall is famous for its impressive facade, which resembles a stone picture book of the city's history. Over 230 figures stand in the niches, though these are not from the Middle Ages but were added in the 19th century.

The sculptures depict a carefully curated selection of saints, rulers, scholars, and local figures who have shaped Leuven. Among them are the Dukes of Brabant, distinguished university professors, biblical figures, and characters from local folklore. Each statue is richly detailed and tells its own chapter of the city's cultural identity.

Together, they transform the facade into a monumental panorama of history—an expression of pride, faith, and knowledge that continues to captivate visitors today.
