Hike with a view of the Alps

04/2021 As early as 1561, the old post road was used by messengers, partly on foot but also on horseback, to transmit messages from Engen to Alsace. From 1700 onwards, the Alte Postweg lost its importance. Today, the old post road is known as a hiking trail and is about 10 kilometres long as a circular route. The starting point is the car park at the Alte Postweg Hütte, above Watterdingen. From here you also have a unique panoramic view of the Alps. We only walked part of the way, as it was quite windy and cold at the top of the mountain. But it is definitely worth the trip.
