Large room in the historic main building
10/2021 On our first visit to the Dorint, we had a room in the wellness wing (see linked review below). This time we were in the historic main building of the Dorint Spa Hotel. The room was large and spacious. However, the division was a bit strange due to the rather long room. Directly opposite the front door was the large desk along the window front. We were right on the top floor and therefore had a slight sloping roof and small dormer windows. A sofa corner to the left of the entrance, the beds to the right. Despite the fact that we were in the old building, you didn't really notice it. The bathroom was newly renovated and seemed modern and well thought out.
restaurant and bar
The hotel has a good restaurant and bar. We only had breakfast this time. Due to the shortage of staff, a little patience was sometimes required here. The bar, which can be seen here on the right, was unfortunately closed throughout our stay. The reason for this was the lack of staff. That was a pity, we would have liked to have had a drink in the evening.
Sensational location in the spa gardens
The hotel is located in the spa park. One step in front of the door and you are right in the middle. The Kurpark is beautifully laid out and full of historic buildings. A colorful plant, especially in autumn. More in my travel video to the Kurpark .
Nice wellness area
The hotel has its own wellness area with saunas and swimming pools. Unfortunately, due to the Corona Pandemic, there were still somewhat unpleasant conditions, e.g. that a maximum of 2 people were allowed to be in a sauna at the same time. Unfortunately, in contrast to the first visit, the swimming pool in the salt cave was closed. However, our favorite sauna, the small herbal sauna with the four seating areas, was still as beautiful as it was in 2012.
Gladly again
We were at the Dorint again in 2021 after 9 years. Unfortunately, the consequences of the pandemic have been noticed at one point or another. Most of all with the lack of staff, which is why, for example, the bar was closed in the evening. There was also an electrical fault in our room. Turning off the lights in the room also turned off all outlets, which made it difficult to charge cell phones. We reported this at check-out and I got the impression that the problem was being taken seriously. All in all, a real highlight with the Kurpark and other excursion options in the R hn and Bad Kissingen.
