03/2024 Hard to believe. The name of the fountain on Nuremberg's main market is actually "Beautiful Fountain". The 19-meter-high fountain was first built in 1396 and has been restored several times. The current version of the fountain dates from 1903. The fountain survived the air raids of World War II thanks to a concrete casing that the people of Nuremberg had installed around the fountain to protect it. A brass ring on the grille is considered a lucky charm; according to legend, whoever turns it will be blessed with children.
