Figures, data, facts about Deutsche Bahn
01/2015 Many people travel with Deutsche Bahn every day. In the first half of 2014 alone, DB counted just over a billion passengers, setting a new record. But what do these passengers do, how do they travel and how do they use Deutsche Bahn and its services? The most frequently booked route is Hamburg to Berlin, followed by Frankfurt (Main) to Berlin. The connections from Frankfurt (Main) to Munich are similarly well used. The average travel distance for trips booked online or via mobile is 340 kilometers, so these are rather long distances. Online tickets are booked on average around 14 days before the trip, while cell phone tickets are booked much more shortly before the trip, namely just three days before the trip with Deutsche Bahn.
Use of Deutsche Bahn’s digital services
For Deutsche Bahn and its long-distance trains, the sale of digital tickets via the internet or smartphone has become the most important sales channel. More than every second ticket is purchased by customers on bahn.de or in the DB Navigator app . That's around 2.8 million online and mobile phone tickets a month. Deutsche Bahn's digital offerings are also a popular option for customers to research timetables. A lot of information is requested, especially while traveling. In November 2014, around 3.1 million mobile travel information requests were received every day - 93 million in the whole month.
Information when things aren't going well
A practical additional service from Deutsche Bahn is the delay alarm . This can be set up automatically when booking online. The customer is automatically informed by email of any timetable changes for the booked travel connection. Deutsche Bahn monitors around 63,000 travel connections on behalf of its customers every day. A little tip: customers who have not booked their ticket online can also set up the delay alarm retrospectively via their bahn.de customer account (MeineBahn) . This even works for regular routes. This is a practical function, especially for commuter customers of Deutsche Bahn. (Image)Source: deutschebahn.com/mediathek
