Beautiful beaches and landscapes

11/2014 Our first trip with the rental car takes us to the south of Kos. From our hotel in Mastichari we drive a few kilometers to Antimachia. The highlight there is a restored old Greek windmill and an old house. From here we drive to the fortress of Antimachia. The fortress is large and in ruins, but there is no entrance fee. You can go for wonderful walks here and explore the extensive fortress grounds. From here there is a beautiful view of the coastal town of Kardamena.

Kardamena is also our next destination. There aren't really any real highlights in this city. British tourists in particular spend their holidays here. The hotels look like they are from the 80s. One restaurant follows the next along the promenade. We eat in a restaurant of our choice and continue towards Kefalos.

We first drive past Kefalos and Kamari to the southern tip of the island. The paved roads quickly end here. The gravel and sand tracks are quite dangerous for scooter riders. We make several stops to enjoy the view and the scenery and drive back to Kamari. Here you can drive back north along the shore. In the bay of Kampos there is a small uninhabited island as a highlight. If you want, you can swim out and explore the island. The wind also makes the bay a surfer's paradise.
