Church at the end of the rainbow
05/2021 A new attraction in Reykjavik is the Rainbow Colored Street with a view of Hallgrims Church at the end. If you are lucky like us, you can photograph the rainbow without other tourists. It is best to choose off-peak times.
Hallgrimskirkja at the end of the rainbow is an impressive Lutheran church in the center of Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland. It is named after the famous Icelandic poet and cleric Hallgrimur Petursson and was built between 1945 and 1986. The church is 74.5 meters high, making it the tallest building in Iceland. The architect of the church, Gudjon Samuelsson, was inspired by the basalt formations that are widespread in Iceland. The exterior of the church therefore has a unique and fascinating shape.
