Churches and Rocks

03/2021 After our overnight stay in the Gimbur Guesthouse, we first went to the Stadarbjörg Basalt Colums. There are beautiful stone pillars by the water right on the coast in front of the outdoor pool. A short stop is worth it.

Then we went to the Vidimyri Church, an old peat church from 1834. Those who want to see the church from the inside have to pay admission. Everyone has to decide for themselves whether this is worthwhile. There is an insight in my video. The Glaumbaer Farm & Museum is not far away. There you can visit a number of beautiful peat houses. On the way we visited a small black church not far from the country road. Since the church is locked, the stop is not really worth it.

Those who love hot pools will love the Grettislaug. Somewhat out of the way and in a very quiet location, you can swim here with a view of the sea. At the end of the day we visited another Instagram highlight. The rock Hvítserkur stands in the water in the north of Iceland just off the coast. The stone looks like a rhinoceros to me. Locals tend to see it in the shape of a troll.
