Exciting national park on the west coast

04/2021 There was a lot to see on our day in Snaefellsjoekull National Park in Iceland. Our first stop on our day tour was the Rauðfeldsgjá gorge. If you walk into the deep crevice, you have to skilfully shimmy from stone to stone in order not to end up in the river.

We continued with Lóndrangar and the Malarrif lighthouse. Unfortunately we missed a detour at first, so after the lighthouse we went back to Adam's Rock and walked there through the lava field of Snaefellsjökull.

Then we went to Djúpalónssandur beach. There are wreckage from an old rusty ship that was stranded there some years ago. At the water you can take great shots with long exposure of the rocks and the stormy sea.

Then we went on to the Svörtuloft lighthouse. The orange tower stands pretty lonely on the cliff in the west of Iceland. You drive quite a long time on a bad road to this lighthouse. Everyone has to decide for themselves whether it is worth it.

On the way to Kerlingarfoss we passed the beautiful Ingjaldshóll church. The church is beautifully surrounded by snow-capped mountains and purple lupine fields.
