Hike to the earth pyramides

04/2021 The hike to the earth pyramids is definitely worthwhile, because this natural spectacle can only be seen in this form in South Tyrol. The hiking trail up to the earth pyramids is very well signposted and easy to follow, but it climbs steadily. Once there, there are several viewing platforms that can be reached via stairs. We decided to walk back along another path, which was also very nice, but without good signposting. If you are a bit hungry at the end of the hike - as we were - it is definitely worth going to the pyramid café. It's a great place to sit and the cake is simply fantastic.

The formation of the earth pyramids of Percha: A few hundred years ago, a landslide was caused by a storm, which was followed by several rainshowers, resulting in the formation of a large trench. Repeated washing away and erosion of the side slopes left the pillar formations with the stones on top. These earth pyramids are constantly changing, especially in winter and spring, new columns are formed again and again: The erosion zone forms the most important earth pyramid occurrence in the Puster Valley.
