03/2023 The Shobak Castle in Jordan dates back to 1115 and was once built as a security post for a trade route from Jerusalem to Aqaba. Over the centuries, the castle has fallen into disrepair. Today, you can visit the ruins of the extensive fortress. The castle is also called the Crusader Castle of Montreal, after one of the many castle lords, Maurice of Montreal, who inherited the fortress in 1147. We liked the complex. There are beautiful places everywhere for photos of the castle and the surrounding area.
