03/2023 Anyone who walks to the High Place of Sacrifice will also pass the obelisks on Jabal al-Madhbah. The two stone pillars are not real obelisks. Scientists suspect that they were deliberately left standing when stone was extracted from the quarry. Stonemasons were highly respected by the Nabatians.
