12/2022 The photo shows a section of the Victoria Lines. A geological fault with steep cliffs runs straight through Malta. Around 1722, the Order of Malta built a number of scout towers and shelters for soldiers along this line. The English later expanded the facilities. This work was completed in 1897 and the bulwark was named Victoria Lines in honor of Queen Victoria who was then celebrating her 60th jubilee.
