One of the largest archaeological sites of the past Mayan culture can be found in Palenque (Mexico). A visit to the historic city in the jungle is worthwhile!

05/2013 One of the highlights of our Yucatan tour was a visit to the old Mayan metropolis of Palenque. Here you will find a large number of temples, some of which are well preserved, and technical facilities, such as an irrigation system. From one of the pyramids you have this wonderful view of the old city and the surrounding area. Palenque is in the middle of a jungle-like area. Before visiting the excavation, we went on a one-hour jungle hike.
