Bab Guissa Mosque

10/2025 This photo shows the Bab Guissa Mosque in Fes, Morocco, in the warm light of sunrise. The first rays of the morning sun bathe the minaret in a golden glow, as the city slowly awakens. A gentle morning stillness hangs over the roofs of the historic old town (medina), and the distant hills are outlined in delicate shades of blue on the horizon. I got up early to capture this peaceful scene and walked about 30 minutes from my hotel to a spot on the city wall above the mosque. The photo was taken approximately 30 minutes before sunrise.
