Richly decorated facade and columns
06/2022 The Batalha Monastery is one of the most remarkable buildings I have seen so far. Every square inch of the monastery appears to have been meticulously crafted and decorated. The photo shows the view from the cloister into the monastery garden. A really great place where you can find so many beautiful photo opportunities.
The Batalha Monastery was built from 1385 after Portugal's victory against the Kingdom of Castile. The construction period was an incredible 150 years. The building is considered a masterpiece of Portuguese Gothic architecture and has been on the UNESCO World Heritage list since 1983.
