Rhino in Kariega Game Reserve

Black Rhino in the wild

09/2014 Our guide told us that black rhinos are rare. It is not a given that this rhino also has two horns. Poachers do not shy away from driving back into the protected parks at night to cut off the rhinos' horns. To protect the animals, the horns are therefore often cut off in a gentle manner. Even if a rhino looks big and threatening, they are harmless grazers. A rhino can only become dangerous if they feel threatened. The jeeps of the Kariega Game Reserve know the animals and therefore do not allow themselves to be disturbed while grazing.
