View of the crater
11/2022 The Tajogaite is a volcano that erupted in the autumn of 2021 and left a great trail of devastation on the west side of La Palma. The lava masses flowed downhill into the sea and buried entire villages. There are now various viewpoints that are still monitored because of the toxic gases. I took this photo from one of these viewpoints in the area of the former municipality of El Paraiso. It shows the crater of the Tajogaite up close. In the morning you can still see the steam rising from the crater. Obviously it is still very warm.
