A look into the universe
11/2022 In the mountains of La Palma, on the Roque de los Muchachos, there are very impressive space research stations. The picture shows the CTA LST1 telescope. The telescope, which was inaugurated in October 2018, is the first of a total of over 100 planned telescopes in the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA). This will be used to research supernova remnants, binary star systems and pulsars in particular. There will be a total of 19 telescopes on La Palma, the rest will be built at the Paranal Observatory in Chile. The huge mirror surfaces with a total diameter of 23 meters are impressive.
