11/2022 It is very impressive to see the telescopes on the Roque de los Muchachos on La Palma up close. The most impressive is the CTA LST1 telescope or the MAGIC telescope. At the time the photo was taken, there were already three such systems on the mountain. MAGIC stands for Major Atmospheric Gamma-Ray Imaging Cherenkov Telescopes. The core of the research facility is to gain new insights into the most energetic objects and phenomena in the universe. The CTA telescopes cover the entire energy range of gamma rays known to date. A total of 100 of these are to be built worldwide. 19 of them are to be built on La Palma.
