Canos de Fuego Visitor Center

In the lava tunnel

11/2022 There have been several volcanic eruptions on the west side of La Palma in the past. The last major eruptions in the region on the Cumbre Vieja were in 1949 and 1971. You can find out more about the history at the Canos de Fuego visitor center. You can also take a tour of the caves in an old lava layer. However, due to the current danger of poisonous gases, this was not possible during our visit and we only made a short detour into a reconstructed lava cave.
