11/2022 The west side of La Palma is volcanically active. The region is called Cumbre Vieja and has had numerous eruptions, including in the recent past. Along the lava flows of the 1949 eruption is the Canos de Fuego visitor center. Here you can normally go into large lava caves, but unfortunately not at the moment due to toxic gases.
