11/2022 The visitor center Centro de interpretacion Canos de Fuego is located on the edge of the lava field. The volcano on the Cumbre Vieja erupted in 1949. Two more have followed to date. The visitor center has a lot to offer about the geology of La Palma and the history of volcanic eruptions in the region.

The walkways in the photo are usually used to take a tour through beautiful volcanic caves. Unfortunately, this was not currently possible due to toxic gases. This is still due to the eruption in autumn 2021.
