Hidden Bay
11/2022 A beautiful excursion destination on the west coast of La Palma is the former smugglers' and pirates' bay Cueva de Candelaria. Getting there requires nerves of steel. A narrow and steep coastal road leads down the cliffs in some tight serpentines. Once you've reached the bottom, you have to walk a few hundred metres from the car park along a narrow path along the rocky coast until you reach the small bay. The houses are situated like a large rock cave. Smugglers and pirates are said to have lived here before the government put an end to the activity. Today the houses are more like a kind of weekend home.
