Ibiza is best known as a party island. That Ibiza has even more to offer, I would like to point out with my five tips for trips in this article.

Highlights at the old town of Ibiza town

Highlights at the old town of Ibiza town

06/2016 Ibiza town has a really nice old town with many sights. In the middle of the old town on a mountain is a fortress with the Catedral de Santa Maria. For an excursion to the old town, it is best to park near the port and then walk through the small alleyways to the Ses Taules gateway up to the top of the fortress. From there you have a beautiful view towards Playe d en Bossa and to the old town of Ibiza town and the port. In the narrow streets of the old town is worth to do a stroll through the many small shops. Along the harbor there are some very nice bars and restaurants with outdoor tables and sofas. You can also eat and drink in cozy restaurants and cafes on the small square along Passeig de Vara de Rey.

Santa Eularia des Riu and Hippie Market

Santa Eularia des Riu and Hippie Market

Santa Eularia des Riu is located not far from Ibiza town on the south coast. Here the watches tick a bit slower. On the beach promenade there are crowds of retirees. On the beach and in the restaurants it is rather dignified too. And next to beach chairs, you can also borrow walking aids for a walk on the beach. We recommend a stroll along the beautiful beach promenade and on to the town hall with its beautiful fountain.

A nice highlight of Ibiza takes place once a week on Wednesday: The hippy market near Santa Eularia. It is a great destination, if one is looking for special accessories, clothing and decoration articles. There are surprisingly few Chinese imports in the market. Much is handmade and unique. The audience is also mixed. The market has a nice atmosphere and is really fun - here you forget the time!
Recommendation: There are two large paying parking lots right next to the Avinguda Punta Arabi site. When its crowded you cant find a place there and you have to park a little further away. There are not so many food stands on the market and around lunch time they are very crowded. So do not eat at the peak time or bring something small with you.

Dream beaches in Cala d Hort and Cala Vadella

Dream beaches in Cala d Hort and Cala Vadella

If you want to swim in the crystal clear waters of Ibiza, Cala d Hort is a good option. The bay on the west coast of the island seduces to have a bath and to cool down.
Recommendation: If you like to have a nice view of the bay, drive to the parking lot to the left of the road, just before the road leads steeply down to the beach. Here you have a great view from above on the bay and the islands Es Vedra further south.
A few kilometers further you find another very good place to spend the time in the sun and on the beach. In Cala Vedella there are also beautiful beach bars and restaurants, which make the day at the water more pleasant.

Cafe Del Mar in Sant Antoni de Portmany

Cafe Del Mar in Sant Antoni de Portmany

In the north of Ibiza is the second largest city on the island with the beautiful name Sant Antoni de Portmany. Here you can find an equally lively nightlife as in Ibiza town. Well-known clubs like the Club Nautic, the Eden or the Savannah Beach Club are here.
My recommendation for a trip to Sant Antoni de Portmany is the Cafe del Mar on the waterfront near the harbor. The CDs with the famous electro and lounge music were already in my closet 15 years ago. It was a must to have a delicious cocktail with relaxed electronic beats and a nice view of the water in this location. Apart from the Cafe del Mar there are also other similar locations, but you should definitly stay at the original Cafe and also have a look at the very beautifully designed interior!

Best place for the sunset in Ibiza

Best place for the sunset in Ibiza

To see beautiful sunsets over the sea, Ibiza has beautiful locations to offer. On the north east side of the island near Platja de Comte are several restaurants directly overlooking the sea and the islands Illa Sa Conillera. The sun sets directly between the small islands and dyes the sky in all colors. A very unusual and beautiful location is the Restaurant Sunset Ashram (photo). If you want to get a place to watch the sunset here, you should reserve or come early - the restaurant is very popular. Alternatively, there are two other restaurants nearby, which can definitely keep up with the culinary delights.
