05/2021 Aarburg Fortress is located high above the Aare in the town of Aarburg of the same name. The fortress was built as a castle in the 12th century and then steadily expanded into a fortress. The Aare has a special feature here. The water flows here quickly and sometimes also upstream in whirlpools of several dimensions. The Aare Waage is therefore a unique natural phenomenon.
