Private bungalow with pool and located directly on the beach
06/2015 Our room at Santiburi Resort was not a room, but a separate bungalow with a small garden and pool right on the beach. The individually standing houses are decorated in Thai style, tastefully furnished and very spacious. Especially we liked that you could open the sliding door in the morning to listen to the sounds of the sea while lying in bed. Also the small pool in the separated garden was great, here you could cool again in the evening or simply rinse the salt water from the sea. The Bathroom is very large with two separate vanities, a tub and a large shower. Besides the strange lighting by the bed - on the first evening we had to turn out a bulb, because we couldn’t turn it off from the bed - there is nothing to complain about in the bungalow. The bungalow was cleaned several times a day as long as even one crumb sand lay on the floor and prepared during the dinner for the night.
Restaurants in a beautiful location but the wow factor was missing
The Santiburi Resort has three different restaurants: one restaurant right on the beach, a Thai restaurant in the main house and the restaurant, where there is breakfast daily. At breakfast we really liked the juice station, where you could combine different fruites that were freshly squeezed right in front of you. Also the buffet was very versatile with high quality. There was also a bar outside where a chef cooked fresh egg dishes and waffles. We often visited the restaurant on the beach for dinner. Here you sit very nice right on the beach, just the food and the choice was not as appealing to us. There were typical Thai dishes, but adapted to European tastes and unfortunately often bland. Therefore, we are also now and then walked along the beach to neighboring restaurants. At the Thai restaurant in the main building we were only once, which was unfortunately nothing special.
Quiet location on a fantastic sandy beach
The Santiburi Resort is very quiet. By car or with a shuttle service you get to the center of the nearest town in about 15 minutes. Small shops, pharmacies and restaurants can be found just outside the hotel on the main street. The Santiburi Resort scores with its great facility and the gorgeous beach.
It is very spacious with a creek flowing through the garden and many scattered bungalows. The main pool is very large and located in the middle of the complex. There we are usually gone in the evening, when it was too fresh on the beach. On the beach we particularly liked that there are many large palm trees that provide shade and also between which hammocks are spanned - we're always switching between the deck and the hammock.
Top service and additional extras
Especially the service is very important in the Santiburi Resort. The staff is very nice and helpful, no matter which concerns you have. When we parted, there was even a little serenade in the lobby. We had booked a shuttle to the airport and the driver even helped us at the airport with the check in. We also liked the tea time: there was tea and savory and sweet pastries on the terrace by the main pool - very cozy and a nice break. There is also a nice spa at Santiburi Resort, but we booked the massages on the beach. At the evening we often played table tennis and made a nice walk on the beach.
Dreamlike vacation and a Resort to feel good
The Santiburi Resort leaves almost nothing to be desired - you can perfectly relax, get great service and a fantastic beach. No wonder, since it is one of the Leading Hotels of the World. Only at dinner there are small prints because the food unfortunately is a bit bland. The price of this hotel is steep, but the benefits are well worth it and we would definitely come back again.
