The Fisher Towers

The Fisher Towers

04/2014 After breakfast we drive on the 128 to the Fisher Towers. The road there leads through the valley of the Colorado River, mostly along the river. A very beautiful spot there is the Castel Valley Winery. In addition to the winery, there also seems to be a hotel with idyllic wooden houses by the river. At the Fischer Towers we hike a little along the marked trail. There are a few climbers on the rock faces, some of them at dizzying heights. If you take a short break on the rocks and are quiet, you might see a chipmunk darting around between the rocks.

Arches National Park

Arches National Park

After the short hiking trip we continue to Arches National Park. All hell is breaking loose here! The masses of people are driven through the park in buses. In addition, sometimes there are so many cars at a viewpoint that you can no longer find a parking space. We still look at a lot, including the Petrified Desert, Fiery Furnace, Balanced Rock, Double Arch and the North and South Windows.

The Delicate Arch

The Delicate Arch

At sunset we drive to Delicate Arch. Since it takes around an hour to walk to the viewing point, we arrive at the parking lot shortly after five, which is already completely full at this point. We march up the steep rocks in the crowd. This is really one of the most strenuous hikes we have done so far. TIP: Be sure to take something to drink and a jacket with you. Before sunset it is still very warm and the climb to Delicate Arch is very strenuous. After sunset it quickly becomes very cold. A flashlight doesn't hurt either. On the way back, many hikers strained their cell phone batteries using the flashlight app.

Sunset at Delicate Arch

Sunset at Delicate Arch

At 6:00 p.m. we are at Delicate Arch and just find a good gap between the photographers' tripods that have already been placed. Until sunset, you can still see many a human being here, as well as acrobatic performances in front of the rock arch. The sunset here is really one of the most beautiful. That makes up for the long march.
