Small room with a great view

12/2015 Our room is on the twelfth floor of the building. The hotel has a total of fourteen floors, making it the tallest hotel in the city. Our room has a sea view and there is a small balcony in front of the bedroom. If you look straight down you can see the hotel pool. From this height you can get dizzy. In the room there is a small kitchenette with a refrigerator. There is no safe, but air conditioning is available. Otherwise, the room is relatively tight with two large suitcases. The Wi-Fi is also only available for a fee. However, there are some cafes along the beach promenade that offer free WiFi. The bathroom is relatively new and looks very chic. Everything was kept in beige-brown and tiled to a high quality.

No restaurant on site, but plenty nearby

Hotel Aquarius on The Beach does not have its own restaurant. In the evening some people sit at the tables in front of the hotel and eat their sandwiches. If you don't have anything with you, you can just walk down the street. We ate at The Coffe Club. That was highly recommended. For breakfast we went to Juliettes right next door, which was also very tasty.

Hotel right on Townsville beach

The hotel is located on Townsville's seafront promenade. From the outside it looks like a matchstick because of the red facade and the slim design. The hotel itself is a bit older and is a kind of apartment hotel. Most apartments/rooms are privately owned. There is only one road between the hotel and the beach - The Strand. In the direction of the city center you will find some restaurants and cafes where you can eat very well. There are also some slightly more expensive restaurants with sea views at the front of the beach.

Pool and free parking

The hotel has a large parking lot behind the building. You can park your car here free of charge. The hotel also has a pool. This is slightly elevated above the beach promenade. However, the number of berths is very limited. This is probably why many people sit on their balconies. You can also swim in the sea a few hundred meters from the hotel. There is a protected area here. You can't swim on the normal beach because there are a lot of poisonous jellyfish here.

Conclusion

Aquarius on The Beach was a great deal because of the view. The room itself was very small. I didn't want to stay here in the long term. Otherwise, due to its central location on the beach, it is a good starting point for a short vacation.
