10/2014 There are many beautiful spots on the Hessian Bergstrasse. One of the most beautiful is in the vineyards between Bensheim and Heppenheim. Along the vineyard path on the Hessian Bergstrasse there are great views of the vineyards, castles (here the Starkenburg) and the Rhine plain. The landscape here is particularly beautiful in autumn. The vine leaves take on the most amazing colours from green to yellow to dark red. The Strada Montana, as the Romans called their trade route around 79 AD, is a mountain range along the Odenwald from Darmstadt to Heidelberg. Winegrowing probably began here back then.
