Graphical seat selection on the train
12/2012 There was a timetable change at Deutsche Bahn last night. Like every year, this second weekend in December saw not only a new timetable but also other interesting innovations. This year it is, among other things, graphical seat reservation . What you know from airlines or from the cinema is now also available on bahn.de for reserving seats in trains. Previously, bahn.de customers could only specify a few things. For example, whether they wanted to sit by the window or in the aisle, in the large room or in the compartment, with or without a table. Now it is possible to choose an exact seat. The train cars are shown in top view. All selectable places are colored yellow. With the mouse you can choose a different seat with a click . It is even possible to click through the different cars on the train. This is particularly practical if you want to sit together with other fellow travelers who have booked and reserved separately.
Like choosing a seat on a plane
Graphical seat reservation is currently only available for long-distance ICE trains. However, the reservation application is still in the testing phase (see beta marking). The new graphical reservation can then be used if the link “ Change seat selection ” appears in the seat details during the booking process.
