Coffee and cake from master hands
09/2014 We recently ended up by chance at the Bauer Cafe and Confectionery in Grasellenbach. A flyer in the Odenwald Railway World in Fürth had led us there with the slogan: "The cake paradise in the Odenwald". From Fürth it is only four kilometers to the Bauer Confectionery. You drive by car through ever smaller villages and finally through the forest. For those who like to hike, there are several parking spaces here or a beautiful circular path. We were a bit lazy and drove right up to the cafe. The Bauer Confectionery is located on a meadow between forests and a babbling brook, a small idyll. From the outside, the building looks like an old inn. Time has also stood still inside. The furniture in the Bauer Confectionery has the charm of the 70s, probably unchanged since it was founded in 1965. The cake counter is just to the right of the entrance. Here, more than a dozen cakes smile at the hungry hiker. After trying them yourself, you can only agree. The cakes and tarts are true masterpieces. It is not for nothing that countless master craftsman certificates, honors and awards from the boss and the trainees hang on the walls.
Coffee and cake, good but not cheap
Considering that the prices are at Frankfurt level, one could have expected a bit more (larger pieces of cake). Otherwise, the Cafe and Konditorei Bauer is a great destination for a Sunday coffee.
