07/2009 Hops belong to the hemp family. The climbing plant is known for its use in brewing beer. Hops spread through their roots and are therefore difficult to remove. The small, round flowers or umbels look very beautiful. In addition to being used in brewing beer, hops are used as a sedative or sleeping pill.
