Hotel Hyatt Regency Cologne Germany
The five and a half star hotel is located directly on the Rhine next to the Hohenzollern Bridge with a view of the Cologne Cathedral.

Large modern rooms
08/2013 Our room is spacious and furnished in a modern ambience. The bed and mattress are incredibly comfortable. We get a second blanket on request. The room is also surprisingly quiet. You can't hear anything from the neighboring rooms or the train that passes within sight of the hotel. The bathroom also seems to have been renovated relatively recently. There was enough storage space for cosmetic bags and toiletry bags. What was a bit annoying were the separate taps for cold and hot water. This makes adjusting the water temperature, especially in the shower, a game of roulette.
No wish is left unfulfilled for breakfast
The breakfast in the hotel is awesome! But anything else would have been a disappointment. There is a huge selection of bread, rolls and pretzels. An entire chilled room houses cheese, sausage, fruit and antipasti. A chef can prepare scrambled eggs or fresh waffles upon request. Hyatt hotels also seem to be popular with celebrities. We saw Henning Baum in Hamburg back then. This time we met J rgen Vogel with his wife and child.
Central location on the Rhine
Of course, in Cologne you can do one thing above all else - shop! However, better not on a Saturday lunchtime. Here the shopping streets in the city center are full to bursting and the shopping trip becomes quite strenuous. When the weather is nice you can of course go to one of the two beach clubs on and next to the Rhine terraces. There is also a beautiful, large park right next door from which a cable car leads over the Rhine. On the other side is the Cologne Zoo and the Botanical Garden. Anyone interested in plants and beautiful gardens should not miss the Botanical Garden. Entry is free. Everything is within walking distance from the Hyatt Regency Hotel.
Through the lobby to the pool
The hotel has a nice gym and a swimming pool with a whirlpool, sauna and steam room. We tested the pool and the sauna. The pool is long enough to swim a few lengths in a relaxed manner. The whirlpool offers massage jets that are very relaxing. However, the water in the whirlpool could be a little warmer. The saunas are good. You can also make the infusion yourself by pouring water from the bucket into a funnel on the wall. The loungers were also very comfortable. The only disadvantage is that you have to go through the lobby to get to the wellness area. So if you put on your bathrobe in the room, you walk through the entrance area in slippers, which I personally don't think is great.
Conclusion
All in all, the stay at the hotel was worth the money. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The room was nice, clean and quiet. Breakfast was a dream. I would happily go to the hotel again at any time. Only access to the pool through the lobby is a real minus!
