Birdwatching in Iceland
02/2021 A special bird in Iceland is the puffin. A large part of the world population of this species lives in Iceland. A particularly good spot for observing the animals is in the east of Iceland. From Egilsstadir it goes up the road 94 to Borgarfjördur. Large parts of the streets, however, are unpaved. In the port of Borgarfjörður you will find a small peninsula where the puffins can be observed very close.
Then we went over the mountains to Seydisfjördur. The small village with a church and rainbow colored paving stones. Finally on the way back to Egilsstadir we made a short hike to Fardagafoss. A worthwhile detour!
