06/2021 The hiking trail to Hengifoss is not for everyone. You have to climb a good 200 meters in altitude on each stretch of the route and the path is very uneven and has rough rock in places. But the effort is worth it, because the fourth highest waterfall is a real highlight! More in the travel video, see link below.

At a height of 128 meters, Hengifoss is one of the highest waterfalls in Iceland. The water cascades over red rocks composed of volcanic ash and tuff, giving the waterfall a unique color scheme. Surrounding Hengifoss are the impressive basalt columns which present an interesting geological phenomenon and are a popular hiking destination.
