Large lava eruption

06/2021 The photo shows probably my most spectacular photo of a lava eruption at the Fagradalsfjall volcano in Iceland. This eruption was just after sunset. The lava probably shoots up 20m and then runs down the steep slopes of the crater. An incredible spectacle. You can also find the whole eruption in my travel video, see link below.

Fagradalsfjall volcano is an active volcano on the Reykjanes Peninsula in Iceland. It erupted on March 19, 2021 after a series of earthquakes that had rocked the area for weeks. The eruption was the first on the peninsula in more than 800 years and has since attracted worldwide interest and attention.
