Mountain lake Yamdrok-Tso in Tibet
07/2011 On our journey through Tibet we also cross the 4,794 m high Kampa-La mountain pass. From the top of the pass you have a wonderful view of the Tibetan mountain landscape and the holy lake Yamdrok-Tso, also known as Jasper Lake. Although there is snow on the mountains in the background, you could walk around Kampa-La in a T-shirt. The reason is that the mountains in the background are thousands of meters higher. You can no longer do big jumps on the pass. At this altitude the air is already very thin. The oxygen content at an altitude of 5,000 m corresponds to an oxygen concentration of around 14% at sea level.
