Spacious room with direct access to the garden
06/2017 The room is very spacious and has two large double beds, a sofa and direct access to the garden. It is also very clean and comfortable, with warm wood tones. The bathroom is also big and well fitted with toiletry.
Large restaurant with a little uncomfortable atmosphere
The only negative point is the restaurant: it is very large and the ceilings are very high. This makes it uncomfortable and is also pretty noisy. We ate there the first night and both the selection and the quality of the food were good. However, you have to order - in the Australian style - at the bar or at the restaurant counter and also pay directly. This is a bit unusual for us, but relatively normal there, even in hotels. The breakfast was included in the room rate and there was a large and varied buffet. Only the bustle in the morning was a bit disturbing.
Beautiful location surrounded by nature
The InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort is located on Hope Island near the Gold Coast. Also to Brisbane it is not far by car. The hotel is located very nice directly on a wide river and very quietly embedded in nature. The complex is very spacious and nicely laid out. The hotel is divided into several individual building complexes. Even at night everything is well lit.
Great lagoon pool to relax
We were particularly impressed by the pool and the lagoon. The pool is located above the lagoon and offers a very nice view. There is also a large and well-tempered Jacuzzi, which is beautifully embedded in nature. The lagoon is really huge and has a real sandy beach. There were also floating Fat Boy sacks that you could borrow and then paddle through the water. We especially liked that there is a children's area and a relaxation area. We relaxed in the quiet area on the beach chairs under large palm trees. From time to time a few curious kangaroos came by - just fantastic.
Conclusion: A gorgeous hotel - highly recommended!
We absolutely loved our stay at the InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort. The hotel is very well located, has a great garden, spacious and clean rooms and above all an impressive pool and lagoon. We would have liked to stay a few more nights and can absolutely recommend the hotel!
