Hotel Sofitel Brisbane Australia
For our nights in Brisbane we booked the Sofitel right next to the main train station, a top-class hotel!

Rooms in a modern design
12/2015 Our plane arrived shortly after six in the morning. It's good that we were still able to move into a finished room. Our room belongs to the "Luxury" category and is on the 25th floor. The view of the city is very nice, but we don't have a direct view of the river. The room is very spacious. The whole room is covered with high quality carpet. The bathroom also offers enough space and enough storage space. The only thing that doesn't really have a place to put the house soap is. The light on the mirror is nice and bright and helpful for a proper shave. The air conditioning in the room is whisper quiet and keeps the room pleasantly cool. In the spacious closet there is a iron and a large safe. Next to it is a bar with a Nespresso machine and most importantly: the bed is very comfortable and soft. There is still a downer though. There is no free WiFi in the room. But not only in the room, but throughout the entire hotel, internet is only available for a fee. 2 hours for 12.50 AD, in total pretty ridiculous and actually a no-go!

Central location at the main train station
The hotel is located directly at Brisbane's main train station. You can go from the tracks directly in the building to the hotel via two escalators. Traveling from the airport by train is therefore perfect, takes around 25 minutes and costs around AD 15 per person. From the hotel you can walk directly across a small park, past the church to the pier. There are plenty of restaurants there and the shuttle boats also leave here. The Brisbane City Hopper and Red Line boats are even free and offer an easy way to see the city from the water.

Restaurant
We didn't eat at the Sofitel. The prices for breakfast are simply far too expensive. But around the station there are a lot of places where you can eat for a fraction of the Sofitel price. In the evening you can eat very well at the pier or in the city's shopping area.

Beautiful pool above the city roofs
The Sofitel has a swimming pool and a Jacuzzi on the roof on the 3rd floor. Here you can relax on comfortable loungers, surrounded by the noise of the big city. The water temperature is pleasant, I love the warm water in the Jacuzzi.
Conclusion
The Sofitel is a good hotel if you want to experience downtown Brisbane. Traveling from the airport by train is cheap and is definitely worth it given the hotel's location. What is absolutely wrong are the internet prices. The fact that there is not even free WiFi in the lobby is actually a disgrace for such a hotel!
