Sunrise at Irazu and Turrialba volcano

03/2024 We went to great lengths to take this photo. We got up just before 5:00 a.m. and drove up the 4,300 meter high Irazu volcano. We were hoping for a beautiful sunrise at the lookout point for the Turrialba volcano, a currently active volcano that cannot be visited. We were lucky and the visibility was good as the sun rose over the horizon. A wonderful moment with breathtaking nature. At the same time, this moment was the coldest on our Costa Rica trip. The thermometer in the car only showed 7 degrees Celsius. Lucky for us, we had brought a warm jacket, scarf and hat with us.
