Solved - Windows 10 microphone not working
I've been desperately looking for a solution to the audio settings for the last few days and have finally found it!

Microphone problem is not a driver problem
04/2020 I've been desperately trying to get my headset with microphone to work for the last few days. Wanted to play over the Internet with Steam and talk to others while doing so. The sound on my headset worked, but not the microphone. At first, like many help articles, I thought it was a driver problem. I've updated the Realtek audio driver, updated the Dell driver for my PC, and even updated the headset driver manually - to no avail. The microphone wasn't deactivated or anything like that. After selecting the headset microphone, there was simply no level during the test.
The solution is a Windows 10 privacy theme
To my surprise, the solution to my microphone problem on Windows 10 was a privacy issue. By chance I searched for microphone in the control panel. I became aware of a setting that controls access to the microphone for various programs and Windows 10 itself. The microphone was blocked here. After activation (see blue arrows in the picture) I was also able to use the microphone in the audio control. Hope this helps you!
