Djupalonssandur Beach in western Iceland

04/2021 There is a lot to see in Snaefellsjoekull-Nationalpark in western Iceland. A west coast stop on our itinerary was Djupalonssandur Beach. The photo shows the narrow path to the beach through a bizarre lava landscape. In front of the beach there is not only a stormy sea but also the remains of a shipwreck, the Epine GY7 Fishing Trawler, which crashed here on March 13, 1948 in stormy seas.
