06/2022 The Ponte Luis truss arch bridge, which opened in 1886, is the second oldest bridge still in existence over the Douro. It connects Porto with Vila Nova de Gaia. The bridge is around 60 meters high and impresses with its historical charm. Behind it lies the old town of Porto with the Ribeira district, which extends to the river bank.
