Wonderful hiking holiday

03/2022 Known for its beautiful laurel forests, La Gomera is a great destination for hiking and holidays in the heart of nature. We were on La Gomera in March 2022 and stayed in a great AirBnB that I am happy to recommend.

On our first day we hiked straight from our AirBnB. Alternatively, there are also parking spaces on the CV-14 road. The tour went to El Cedro and then on towards Monteforte and back again. Unfortunately, the smartphone battery ran out in between and the tour is divided into two Komoot tours:

1. Hike El Cedro part a
2. Hike El Cedro part b

We hiked in two spots on our second day. Both rather easy tours:

1. Hike Cañada de Jorge
2. Hike to the Alto de Garajonay mountain top from El Contadero car park on the GM-2 road

On our third day we drove to various sights in the north-east of La Gomera. The first stop was above El Estanquillo, then we continued to Hermigua with a detour to the Playa de la Caleta beach. From there we continued via Agulo to a hike near Las Rosas. There you walk through a colorful coastal landscape with red, black and gray stones.
Hike at Las Rosas from the parking lot to the east.

On our fourth day we hiked from Restaurante Los Chorros de Epina to Vallehermoso. On the way there, we particularly liked the small town of Macayo. From Vallehermoso we took a taxi back to the starting point. Then we went to Valle Gran Rey and hiked from El Guro to the Cascada de Arure waterfall. But be careful, depending on the water level of the river, the hike can be tough!

1. Hike Los Chorros de Epina to Vallehermoso
2. Hike to Cascada de Arure

On our fifth day we visited the islands capital, San Sebastian, and looked at sights such as the Iglesia de La Asunción church or the Torre del Conde. From there we continued along the south coast to Alajeró for a nice hike to a very large dragon tree

1. Hike to Drago de Agalán

On our last day we did another longer hike in the national park - one of the most beautiful on the island. We started from a parking lot near the Mirador del Morro de Agando. From there it went into the laurel forest to the Ermita de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes and back again. The sunset at Mirador del Morro de Agando was an absolute highlight.
