Avakas Gorge in western Cyprus

Steep rock walls

01/2022 The Avakas Gorge is located in western Cyprus, near the village of Pegeia. The gorge starts off wide and then gets narrower and narrower. In some places Avakas Gorge is only 4 meters wide. The vertical rock walls made of light-colored stone are up to 30 meters high.

A hike in the gorge is also a good idea on a hot day. When it rains, however, caution is advised, because then the small river in the middle can quickly become a raging torrent. More about the hike in my travel video, see link below.
