Hotel Zechmeisterlehen Schoenau Germany

Great family-run wellness hotel in Schnau am Königssee. Neither in the spa nor in the restaurant were any wishes left unfulfilled.

Simple rooms

Simple rooms

03/2013 The room is not very modern but it is clean and tidy. There is enough space for two suitcases and a nice balcony. The hotel also has smoking rooms, which is why you have to specify your wish for a non-smoking room. The room is very quiet, you hardly hear anything from the neighboring rooms. Separate mattresses and two duvets ensure a good night's sleep. A spacious safe is also included free of charge. It is a bit of a shame that there is no kettle in the room. There is also no iron. In the bathroom, the small pentagonal shower, the cheap shower gel and the extremely rough, hard towels are particularly annoying.

Really good cuisine

We had booked half board. This included breakfast with all drinks, dinner without drinks and a free piece of cake in the afternoon. The food was very good. There was even freshly squeezed orange juice for breakfast. In the evening there was always an additional changing buffet with great, tasty things. It was a shame, especially at breakfast, that there were no pretzel sticks or rolls. This is actually mandatory in Bavaria! Another point of criticism is the overpriced drinks. We're used to paying four euros for a latte macchiato with an afternoon cake in the big city of Frankfurt. Here in the country, however, I find this very exaggerated.

When arriving, please take the correct motorway exit

If you are traveling by car, you will take the A8 from Munich towards Salzburg. But be careful, navigation systems like to use the fastest route and it takes a few kilometers on Austrian motorways. This costs 8 euros for a ten-day vignette, but only saves a few kilometers. It's best to leave the A8 at Piding in the direction of Bad Reichenhall and take the country road. If you miss the exit, you are out of luck and have to buy a vignette. The Alpenhotel Zechmeisterlehen is located just outside of Schnau in the Obersch nau district. In winter you can go directly from the hotel to one of the cross-country ski trails that pass by the house. A toboggan hill is also within walking distance. In summer you can certainly start your hikes from here.

Great wellness area

Great wellness area

The wellness area is very new and beautifully designed. There is a swimming pool with pleasantly warm water, as well as a 34 degree outdoor pool. Two saunas, a steam bath, heated loungers and heated water beds make the wellness area a great part of the hotel. There is free water and tea. It's just a shame that the sauna and steam bath only come into operation in the afternoon. The wellness treatments are also top. It was just difficult to book in advance by phone. In addition, the advice on the phone was neither friendly nor particularly helpful. Wishes expressed over the phone were also not taken into account, what a shame! The hotel has free underground parking. This is a great thing, especially in winter when it snows! A T-Mobile WLAN hotspot is also available. The local mobile network is not particularly good, at least at O2.

Conclusion:

Conclusion:

Despite small opportunities for improvement, the hotel is really great! I would go there again at any time. The friendly staff in the restaurant and at the reception in particular create a familiar atmosphere. The hotel is owner-managed, the boss and manager themselves stand at the food counter or help out at the bar in the restaurant.
